May 26 is "Founders Day" for the Promontory Point Conservancy, and the idea of having a Memorial Day vigil and observation fit right in with their plans. Without their encouragement, this year's Poppy Ceremony might not be taking place. Please show your support for The Point in any way you can.
Love to read stories about Hyde Park's remarkable past? Then you should visit Patricia-Morse.com and dive into a local historian's archive of local history and remarkable observations. Many thanks to Trish for allowing us to include her information on The Iowa Building as part of this website. (AND she gave us a nice boost in her widely read blog.
Thanks to Trader Joe's for being the very first local business to respond positively to our request to pre-order Poppies. The Hyde Park store donated bottled water and some individual snacks.
The Parkshore Cooperative, home to several of our Poppy Ceremony volunteers, has pitched in by providing meeting space, which can often be difficult to find. Many thanks for that special level of support.
We are also supported by our local American Legion and other Veterans Groups.
